Dental veneers are the thin tooth colored shells designed to improve the appearance of your teeth and it also protects the teeth from damages.

Types of dental veneers
Dental veneers to be used for each individual depends on the purpose, cost and affordability. Following are their types.

Non-permanent veneers
These veneers can be removed whenever you want. You can use them at homes. They do not contain any adhesives and are available in market.

Porcelain veneers

Composite veneers

Lumineers
Lumineers are similar to porcelain veneers. They are less thinner than porcelain veneers. Lumineers does not require any cutting or filling of teeth.

Davinci veneers
These are similar to lumineers but these are very thin and are long lasting.

MAC veneers
MAC veneers are made up of ceramic material. These are useful in case the teeth are not arranged correctly.

Palatal veneers
Palatal veneers are made up of gold and are used to improve appearance on palatal side of the upper teeth.

Steps involved in wearing of veneers

  • First, the dentist examines the teeth of the patient by taking X-rays.
  • local anesthesia is given to anesthetize the area, if necessary.
  • The dentist scratches the enamel from the surface of the tooth. The thickness of enamel scratched should be equal to the thickness of the veneer to be added.
  • Then, the impressions of the teeth are taken and sent to laboratory to prepare veneer.
  • Once the veneer is prepared, it is placed over the scratched tooth and examines whether the color and the thickness of the veneer is fitted or not.
  • The tooth is cleaned and polished.
  • Bonding of the veneer is done by passing a beam of laser to the applied veneer.
  • Finally the excess veneer is removed and make any adjustments necessary.
