Different Types of Refrigerators Based on the Features

Generally food refrigerators are used to store the food and protect it from spoiling due to bacterial growth. With the advancement in technology, refrigerators are available in different models. Following are the different types of the refrigerators which have wide range of features:

Top Freezer Refrigerators:
This is the traditional refrigerator which has two doors with the freezer at the top of the unit. It comes in various sizes, width and colors. They typically offer the maximum storage for their size. Fairly wide refrigerator shelves make it easy to reach the back.

Bottom Freezer Refrigerator:
These refrigerators offer the freezer unit as a pull out drawer on the bottom of the unit. This type has a top refrigerated section. This refrigerator does not offer the easiest of freezer storage. It comes in different sizes and colors.

Dorm Size:
These are the small refrigerators and they have single door refrigeration unit. They are ideal for holding drinks and snacks. Medical sites often have one to hold specimens and refrigerated medication.

Side By Side:
This appliance has a refrigerator and a freezer each spanning from the top to bottom of the unit and these types of fridges comes with the features like through the door ice and water dispensers, temperature controlled bins, and rapid ice making cycles. These refrigerators come in all different colors and materials. This refrigerator is the one of the most common types of refrigerators.

Built in Refrigerators:
Built ins refrigerators typically come in bottom freezer and side by side styles and these offer the sleekest look.

Commercial Refrigerators:
A commercial refrigerator has glass doors that slide back and forth to access its contents. They are large units, taking up almost double the space of a more conventional residential refrigerator. This offers only refrigerator and a separate freezer has to be purchased and installed.
